Hard water contains high levels of minerals and metals like calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and lead. Exposure to hard water can leave your skin feeling dry and irritated, as the minerals can strip away natural oils. It can also lead to buildup on your hair, making it look dull and lifeless. Additionally, prolonged contact with metals like lead and copper can be harmful to your overall health.
What is inside the Koia shower filter system?

Filtration Layers:

  • Sand Layer: Traps large particles like sand and debris.
  • Stainless Steel Mesh: Blocks medium-sized impurities before they reach the purifier.
  • Micro-Porous PP Cotton: Filters out fine particles and dust for cleaner water.

Purification Elements:

  • Calcium Sulfite: Effectively eliminates chlorine from water at any temperature.
  • KDF 55: Reduces chlorine, heavy metals (lead, chromium, copper, mercury, nickel), and other unwanted minerals.
  • Granular Activated Carbon: Minimizes trihalomethanes (THMs) and unpleasant odors.

Is this compatible with my shower?

The Koia Shower Filter fits standard ½-inch connections, making it compatible with most showers in New Zealand and around the world.

Just remove your showerhead, attach the Koia filter and screw the showerhead back on — no tools, no fuss, no plumber needed.

Our filter fits most handheld, rainfall and fixed showerheads. If your shower has a standard round metal thread, you’re good to go! For square mounts or small plastic fittings, an adaptor may be needed.

When is the best time to replace the filter?

For households with 4 or more people, we recommend replacing your universal shower cartridge every 3 months to ensure optimal performance and water quality.

For households with 2 people, replacing the cartridge every 6 months is typically sufficient to maintain clean, filtered water. Regular replacement ensures your shower filter continues to effectively remove impurities and maintain its filtration performance.
